For Men Who Dream of Lolita

Geist Staff

For Men Who Dream of Lolita (Coteau Books) is Kim Morrissey's retelling of Nabokov's story from Lolita's point of view in a series of linked poems. A very tricky subject, in political, literary and personal terms, but Morrissey gets out some strong and moving poems, staying clear of cliché and self-righteousness. The long central poem, "Parlour Tricks," is alone worth the price of admission.
