Write to My Mum

THE EDITORS

Stan was being interviewed by Don Harron when his first record came out. At the end of the visit, after listening to some of the songs on the record, Don asked Stan how to get the record. Stan said blithely, “Oh, just write to my mum,” and gave her address. I did that (it was before the first VFMF) and started a correspondence and a friendship with his mum and dad that continues—to my great pleasure—to this day. We met Stan at the first Vancouver Festival and continued to meet—our last visit being just before he died, when he sang a lot of new songs at Isadora’s restaurant in Vancouver.
