"Too Asian": The Music Video

When UBC professor and Vancouver poet Dr. Ray Hsu challenged students to respond to the 2010 Maclean’s article “Too Asian?’ (now titled "The enrollment controversy*"), I anticipated an intelligent rebuttal, an open discourse on stereotyping and probably a few angry internet comments. Many of these things happenned, but we also got this hilarious video from Tetsuro Shigematsu, who organized Dr. Hsu and his Asian Canadian Writing class at UBC around a parody of the 80s classic “We are the World”.

Look for an excerpt of Dr. Ray Hsu’s interview with the Vancouver Observer called “Bundle of Desires” in the upcoming Geist #80
