Stan Saves the Backpacker

THE EDITORS

At the start of a 10-month world trip in 1992 I was staying at a backpackers on Hong Kong Island. I ran into a young woman from Vancouver who had been away from Canada for a year and was very homesick and longing for something Canadian. When I offered to let her listen to my Stan Rogers tape she started to cry. Listening to Stan meant home for her. After getting her fix of Stan and a few other Canadian artists, we felt she would make it for another few weeks. She was most appreciative.
