THE EDITORS

I have never seen Stan perform live, but I have many of his CDs and having been a longtime listener to CBC, I hear him often. It is hard to believe that it is 20 years since he passed. I still tear up whenever I hear his voice, and I’ll never forget the morning that my clock radio came on and told me of his death on that airplane . . . one of those moments that are never forgotten. A funny moment was hearing his ode “Garnet's Home Made Beer” (sung to the tune of “Barrett's Privateers”) just as I was bottling a batch of my own homebrew and laughing so hard that I lost control of my siphoning tube and flooded the floor. I like to think that Stan would have laughed too. Thanks for doing this; I can’t believe he isn’t already in the Music Hall of Fame.
