The Same Clan

The information I have found thus far is a chapter in the book The Great Game, by Peter Hopkirk, entitled “The Mysterious Vitkevich.” Hopkirk in turn recommended the title you mentioned, Ivan Viktorovich Vitkevich, 1806—39, a small pamphlet he had found in a London bookshop. Jan must have been an interesting character. My ancestors were from Lithuania, and although I have a limited amount of genealogical information, I suspect that if I could go back far enough I would find most if not all of the Witkiewiczes in that small nation are from the same clan.
